2016 Local Government Elections

The Mohokare Municipality has 11 seats. There were 18,483 registered voters in the municipality for the 2016 local government elections. The highest voter turn-out was achieved in Ward 6 with 62.32 %. The lowest voter turn-out in the municipality was in Ward 1 with 49.75 %. The average voter turn-out achieved in the 2011 municipal elections was 55.48 %. The African National Congress (ANC) is the majority party and holds 7 seats whilst the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) hold two seats each.

2011 Local Government Elections

The Mohokare Municipality has 11 seats. There were 17,773 registered voters in the municipality for the 2011 local government elections. The highest voter turn-out was achieved in Ward 2 with 62.40 %. The lowest voter turn-out in the municipality was in Ward 4 with 49.59 %. The average voter turn-out achieved in the 2011 municipal elections was 57.14 %. Following the 2011 local government elections, two political parties are represented in the municipality. The African National Congress (ANC) is the majority party and holds 9 seats whilst the Democratic Alliance (DA) holds two seats. The Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) did not retain the seat it won during the 2006 local government elections.
